Prohibited & Restricted Goods Policy

1. Purpose

This policy outlines the types of goods that cannot be stored or fulfilled by Scale 3PL, as well as goods that may require prior approval before being accepted into our warehouse.

The purpose of this policy is to ensure compliance with UK law, courier regulations, warehouse safety requirements, and insurance conditions.


2. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All customers storing goods with Scale 3PL

  • All products shipped to Scale 3PL warehouses

  • All inventory processed, stored, or dispatched by Scale 3PL

Customers must ensure their products comply with this policy before shipping inventory to our warehouse.


3. Prohibited Goods

The following items are strictly prohibited and must not be sent to Scale 3PL warehouses under any circumstances.

Dangerous / Hazardous Materials

Including but not limited to:

  • Explosives

  • Fireworks

  • Ammunition

  • Flammable liquids

  • Gas cylinders

  • Corrosive substances

  • Toxic chemicals


Illegal Goods

Any goods that are illegal under UK law, including:

  • Controlled drugs or narcotics

  • Counterfeit or replica goods

  • Stolen goods

  • Items that infringe intellectual property rights


Weapons

Including but not limited to:

  • Firearms

  • Air guns

  • Knives or bladed weapons (where restricted by law)

  • Tasers or similar weapons


Perishable Goods

Products requiring controlled temperature storage, including:

  • Refrigerated food products

  • Frozen goods

  • Perishable food requiring chilled transport

Scale3PL operates ambient warehousing only and does not provide refrigerated or frozen storage.


4. Restricted Goods (Approval Required)

Some goods may be accepted only with prior written approval from Scale 3PL.

These include:

Lithium Batteries

Products containing lithium batteries may require special courier handling and must be reviewed before acceptance.


Aerosols

Aerosol products may be subject to courier restrictions and require approval before storage.


Alcohol

Alcoholic products may require additional compliance checks depending on licensing and shipping requirements.


Cosmetics and Beauty Products

Cosmetic products may require regulatory compliance depending on the ingredients and destination markets.


Electrical Goods

Products with electrical components may require safety compliance certification.


5. Customer Responsibilities

Customers are responsible for ensuring that:

  • All goods comply with UK laws and courier shipping regulations

  • Product information provided to Scale 3PL is accurate

  • Any restricted products are disclosed before shipping

Customers must notify Scale 3PL before sending any goods that may fall under restricted categories.


6. Undeclared or Non-Compliant Goods

If prohibited or undeclared restricted goods arrive at the warehouse:

Scale 3PL reserves the right to:

  • refuse the shipment

  • return the goods to the sender

  • arrange disposal where required

Any associated costs will be charged to the customer.


7. Courier Restrictions

Certain products may be restricted by courier partners used by Scale 3PL. Even if a product is legal, courier regulations may prevent it from being shipped through our fulfilment network.

Scale3PL may refuse products that cannot be shipped through our courier partners.


8. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with current laws, courier requirements, and warehouse safety standards.
