Storage and Palletisation Rules

1. Purpose

To explain how stock is stored and how palletised inventory should be prepared.

2. Scope

Applies to all inventory stored within the Scale 3PL warehouse.

3. Responsibilities

Client

  • ensure stock is prepared for safe storage

  • follow pallet and carton guidelines.

Scale 3PL

  • store stock in appropriate warehouse locations.

4. Procedure Steps

1. Pallet Standards

Standard pallet sizes may include:

  • UK pallet

  • Euro pallet.

Pallets must be structurally sound and suitable for racking and products no higher than 1.8m high

2. Pallet Wrapping

Pallets must be securely wrapped to prevent movement during transport.

3. Carton Storage

Cartons may be stored:

  • on pallets

  • on shelving

  • in bin locations.

Storage type depends on product size and order volume.

4. SKU Separation

Each SKU should be packed separately to prevent mixing of products.

5. Oversized Items

Large or irregular products may require dedicated storage space.

5. Additional Controls

Poorly prepared pallets may require repalletisation.

Additional handling charges may apply.
