1. Purpose

To explain how Scale 3PL stores your products efficiently using bins, shelving, and pallet locations.

Our approach is designed to:

  • maximise space efficiency

  • maintain high picking accuracy

  • ensure fair and transparent storage costs

2. Scope

This applies to all products stored within Scale 3PL warehouses across our UK and EU operations.

3. How We Store Your Products

We use a combination of bins, shelving, and pallet locations depending on the size, shape, and volume of your products.

Bin Storage

Used for smaller items.

  • Small Bin: 26 x 52 x 20 cm

  • Large Bin: 36 x 40 x 46 cm

These are ideal for individual SKUs and fast-moving items.

Shelf Storage

Used for medium-sized products or grouped items.

  • Shelf Space: 57.5 x 120 x 58 cm

This allows for easy access and efficient picking.

Pallet Storage

Used for bulk or reserve stock.

  • Standard Pallet Space: 115 x 120 x 185 cm

This is typically used for cartons or higher-volume storage.

4. Our Approach

1. Right-Sized Storage

We always aim to store your products in the most appropriate space:

  • not too small (to avoid damage or picking issues)

  • not too large (to avoid unnecessary costs)

2. Fair & Transparent Charging

We do not allocate oversized storage unnecessarily.

This ensures:

  • you are not charged for unused space

  • your storage costs remain competitive

3. Accuracy First

Storage is set up to support:

  • clear product separation

  • fast and accurate picking

  • minimal picking errors

4. Flexible & Scalable

As your business grows:

  • we can adjust your storage setup

  • move products between bins, shelves, and pallets as needed

  • optimise your storage over time

5. System & Accuracy

All storage locations are managed through our warehouse system (Mintsoft), ensuring:

  • accurate tracking of your stock

  • clear reporting

  • consistency between physical storage and system records

6. Additional Controls

  • regular reviews to optimise storage usage

  • adjustments made as your product range or volumes change

  • ongoing focus on efficiency, accuracy, and cost control
