2 min. readlast update: 03.15.2026

1. Purpose

To explain how clients should upload product datasheets and compliance documentation to Scale 3PL before products are stored or shipped.

2. Scope

Applies to all Scale 3PL clients whose products require safety, regulatory or customs documentation.

This commonly includes:

  • cosmetics

  • cleaning products

  • chemical products

  • lithium batteries

  • hazardous goods

  • products shipped internationally.

3. When Datasheets Are Required

Some products cannot be stored or shipped without supporting documentation.

Examples include:

Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Required for products containing chemicals or hazardous substances.

Examples:

  • cosmetics

  • cleaning products

  • liquids

  • chemicals.

Dangerous Goods Documentation

Required for products such as lithium batteries.

Customs Documentation

Required when shipping goods internationally.

4. How to Upload Datasheets

Datasheets can be uploaded through the Scale 3PL portal.

Upload your documentation here:

5. Information You Must Provide

When uploading a document you should include:

  • your company name

  • product name

  • SKU or product code

  • document type

  • the datasheet file

This helps the operations team match the document to the correct product.

6. Accepted File Types

Datasheets should normally be provided as:

  • PDF documents

  • official manufacturer safety sheets

  • supplier compliance documentation.

Files should be clear and readable.

7. When to Upload Datasheets

Datasheets should be uploaded:

  • before sending stock to the warehouse

  • before launching a new product

  • whenever product ingredients or specifications change.

Providing documentation early prevents delays in shipping.

8. What Happens After Upload

The Scale 3PL operations team may review the document to confirm:

  • courier compatibility

  • regulatory requirements

  • shipping restrictions.

If additional information is required, the team will contact you.

9. Important Notes

Products that require documentation may not be shipped until the correct datasheets are provided.

Providing documentation in advance helps ensure:

  • faster goods-in processing

  • smooth courier dispatch

  • compliance with shipping regulations.
